We live in a society of fear; fundamentally creating out of ‘fear’ and not ‘love’. In recent months there has been much debate over the ‘greed’ of companies verses the ‘greed’ of consumers. One side saying corporations are ‘evil’ -disregarding humane practices for the sake of profit. The other side saying consumer ‘greed’ for new and better ‘things’ creates a demand that companies must fill. Fundamentally markets are driven by price competition, supply, demand, and technological advancement. With this understanding it is quite easy to see who is to blame for the demise of humanity -both are equally to blame.
Intrinsically humans ‘want’; this ‘want’ is based on fear. The fear of being bored, the fear of self-humiliation, the fear of tomorrow, the fear of past-transgression, the fear of self-control, the fear of social value, the fear of social disconnection... Et cetera. These fears cause us to buy iPhones -to stay connected; we buy Playstations to keep us from being bored; we work jobs that do not express our creative talents. This is the intrinsic fear of ‘if I do not have, I cannot be (insert idealization here)’ -if I do not have money I cannot live. Fundamentally most people see the fallacy of this circular logic. One does not need ‘something’ to live, one needs the culmination of ‘everything’ to live. Existence is not based on idealizations.
Existence is something that ‘is’. In fear we see death as a ‘non-existence’, but through synergistic creation one cannot un-exist; we were created through synergistic creation (biology -quantum mechanics -creationism). This understanding is directly prominent through ‘legacies’. This is also a fundamental statement of both science and religion alike. One cannot become ‘nothing’ because to conceptualize ‘nothing’ is to not understand the total ineffability of ‘nothing’. Humans conceptualize ‘nothing’ as a void, but obviously a void is the possibility of ‘something’ so intrinsically this is not ‘nothing’. This goes to show why the invention of zero was so difficult to understand. How can Nothing exist if it is ‘nothing’? Through the direct understanding of this we truly have ‘nothing’ to fear; I cannot intrinsically un-exist.
I do not expect this to change the world, nor do I idealize the possibility of understanding these statements in the direct manner that I understand these statements. I too live in society -I too do not always exist in the reality of the true moment. I just wish to shed some light onto the fundamental problems that ‘want’ creates. We read stories in the news that makes us feel lost and without hope of creating a better world. How can I stop the labor abuses of manufacturing if I still ‘need’ to have an iPhone to co-exist in society (no one wants to be a hermit, nor does it do society any good to be a hermit)... I think this is something very personal to each and every person. It is a question that can be answered through the individual self-reflection of, ‘why do I want so much -when I already exist with Everything; when I already exist because of Everything’?
